My Story
After serving in Patrol for 12 years in a large New England town, Nicholas Anthony began experiencing difficulty processing scenes of death and tragedy. This affected him both mentally and physically and led him to a sudden breakdown down while sitting alone in his police cruiser. Treated like an insurance claim instead of a person, they formally denied “his alleged mental injury” as work related and would not accept the medical advice of his Doctor and the towns own employee assistance program. Determined not to recognize his injury, they took every step they could to avoid the responsibility of taking care of one of their own. He was forced to seek his own treatment and go without compensation and wages from work. This situation added to what was already a difficult battle with the darkness of PTSD. Grim circumstances led Nicholas to seek out the Lord and through scripture he came to repentance and found new faith. This book was written during Nicholas’s journey battling PTSD and serves as recount of some of the most intense and graphic moments of his Law Enforcement career. Within the pages of this book you will see the Christian perspective of what it is like to be a cop and have to make the moral decisions that affect other people’s lives. This book also illustrates the important presence of God in our lives through His divine intervention.
Today, Nicholas continues to fight for the rights of first responders for mental wellness by dismantling the surrounding stigma and fighting against a broken system.
Nicholas is trained and certified in the areas of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Chaplaincy. He considers himself to have been lifted out of the darkness of the enemy and is using his platform for the ministry of spreading the word of God. Nicholas is the living embodiment written in Genesis 50:20 that was was meant to cause him harm, God in fact used it for good.
